Academic Series 3 : Essay Writing
I hope you all enjoyed the first two academic skills sessions. Mohsen Al Attar will be leading the final lecture in this series which will focus on essay writing so its definitely not one to miss! I am sure this will prove invaluable to all of us. Especially, those who will be writing essays during the Christmas break or have January exams.
Come along on Thursday 15th November, 5-6:00pm in L5. Like always, this event is open to all years including postgraduate students. Spread the word as it will be of great benefit to all of us.
Dom Tour : Newcastle
WARWICK LAW SOCIETY are so excited to announce that this year Warwick Law Society's Domestic Tour will be to NEWCASTLE from 5th-7th November!!
This bright and vibrant city has so much to offer and is known for its notorious nights out. Newcastle has a plethora of buzzing bars and clubs, with one popular student club on Monday’s having £1 DRINKS OFFERS!
You can check out The Quayside, Eldon Garden Shopping Centre, challenge yourself in the Escape Rooms, visit Newcastle Castle and so much more.

For a price of £45, the ticket includes transport, 2 nights accommodation in Eurohostel and a little extra surprise so that everyone is in for an amazing time.
You MUST be a member of Warwick Law Society to get a ticket but the society is completely free to join and we really want both law and non-law students to come! This is going to be an amazing weekend and tickets will sell out so get yours fast!

Representatives from leading international law firms, such as White & Case, Linklaters, Slaughter and May, Norton Rose Fulbright, and Hogan Lovells, will be coming to Warwick to answer questions specifically aimed at Humanities students.
This panel-style event is a great chance to ask all the questions that humanities students need to know about a future career in commercial law.
Following the panel itself there will be an opportunity to network over drinks and refreshments.

Come and meet Warwick undergraduates who have completed vacation schemes at top City law firms. This is your exclusive chance to network with future trainees at international law firms like Herbert Smith Freehills, Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, White & Case, and Weil, Gotshal, & Manges.
This panel-style event is a great chance to ask all the incisive questions you've ever wanted to know about vacation schemes, training contracts, and the the application process.
Networking drinks and refreshments will be provided at the end!

Come join us at our Demo Negotiation & Workshop to watch a negotiation in action & get some tips before signing up to our Annual Commercial Negotiation Competition sponsored by Allen & Overy!

Icebreaker Social
Hey guys!!! Sai and Bogs here with some exciting news!!! Next Saturday 6th, we will be hosting our Icebreaker Social! We want to give you guys the perfect opportunity to mingle and get to know as many lawsoc freshers as possible! We will be circling (a fancy term for warwick pre drinks) in Assembly at 7 and then giving you guys entrance into the club night LuvBug!

Pro Bono Presentation
Hi everyone! Just a reminder that the Pro Bono Presentation is this Friday in The Oculus, OC0.02 from 6-8pm. This is a great way to get to know all of our projects and hear from all the project leaders. There will be FREE PIZZA and the opportunity to ask any questions regarding the time commitment of all the projects as well as what we have planned for the year ahead.

What is the Bar?
Our first event will be an introduction to Bar Society, what we do and how to stay in touch. The University of law is coming in to teach a workshop titled ‘What is the Bar and How to Get There: Scholarships, the BPTC and Pupillage’, which will be extremely helpful for anyone considering a career at the Bar. It will also give those set on it an idea of the sort of things they have to do to get those scholarship applications in and be successful.

The time has come for our Annual Second-Hand Book Sale! Join us in this spectacular event soon to take place this Wednesday. If you are interested in buying and/or selling books, please read the information below very carefully:
Information for BUYERS
The Book Sale is due to take place on Wednesday 3rd October 2018, in The Oculus, between 2.30pm and 6.00pm.
First year students can purchase books in room OC1.01.
Students in second, third or fourth year can purchase books in room OC1.06.
Please note that this event is CASH ONLY and we do not accept returns or exchanges. Also note that books are individually priced by the seller and cannot be bargained.
Information for SELLERS
Your books are individually priced - prices chosen by yourselves. In order for your books to be sold, we recommend that your books are not too expensive. We kindly ask all sellers to donate £1 of their total profits to charity, please let us know if you would like to opt-in to this gesture. Thank you!

In order to sell your books in the Book Sale, we kindly ask you to email us the details of your books by 6pmon Monday 1st October. Our email is lawsocbooksale@gmail.com
Please email us with the following details:

A BRIEF TITLE of the book (e.g. 'tort law') and the PRICE of each book

Once the Law Soc Team have received the correct details from you, we will give you a unique code for each book.
You MUST label your books with the following information: unique code/ your name/ warwick ID number / warwick email/ price.
Please note that books will NOT be accepted unless clearly labelled.
Please label your books securely. Post-it notes must be taped down securely.
On Wednesday 3rd October, you must physically hand in your books between 12pm and 2pm in OC1.01 (if you are selling first year core books) and OC1.06 (if you are selling 2nd/3rd/4th year books). We will not accept books after this time.
COLLECTION:
Any unsold books can be collected on Thursday 4th October in R0.12, between 11.30am and 3pm.
If you fail to collect your unsold books during this time, your books will be donated unto charity.
