We recognise the importance of academic success in supporting strong applications, as well as the transferable skills developed through a degree t h a t are essential for a career in law. Our society is committed t o delivering high-quality academic support t o all our members throughout the academic year.

Building on the success of our inaugural Mentoring Scheme, we strive to create a strong support system for law and non-law students alike. Our popular de-stress events promote wellbeing during high-stress periods. Finally, our academic workshops, hosted in collaboration with the Law School, assist students with their studies.

  • Elaine Okyere-Mireku and Julia Kucera

Warwick Law Society has built an outstanding reputation for its careers events. We are committed to equipping our members with the skills, knowledge, and networks they need to succeed in the legal profession. Our Careers Department organises a wide range of events throughout the year, including dinners, presentations, workshops, and panel discussions, offering students valuable insights and opportunities to connect with legal professionals. Whether applying for training contracts, vacation schemes, or work experience, Warwick Law Society offers something for every aspiring lawyer.

  • Arthi Vijay

We take great pride in our Equalities and Welfare Department - it represents our values of cohesion, inclusion and acceptance. Our coveted department hosts several well-attended events, hoping to foster a sense of belonging and community in both social and professional spheres. We want to break down as many barriers as we possibly can for our diverse range of members, working tirelessly to create a welcoming culture of collaboration and joint success. This, we believe, has been central to our prestige and success as a Society, and we intend to reach new heights this year.

  • Khiloni Lakhani

We run Warwick Law Society’s annual members-only Law Ball, one of the largest social events of the year!! We plan it end-to-end: securing the venue, setting the theme, managing ticketing, coordinating menus and dietary needs, booking entertainment and photography, and delivering a smooth run-of-show on the night. It’s a black-tie, high-energy celebration where our whole society—law and non-law students alike, comes together to relax, connect, and have fun. Our focus is simple: clear communication, inclusive details, and a memorable experience!!

  • Chloe Annabel Triestanto

The Warwick Law Summit is our flagship full-day event featuring an extraordinary and unique range of topics and issues that accommodate the interests of both law and non-law students. The Law Summit aims to encourage students to think across boundaries and gain inspiration by engaging with workshops, keynote speeches and panel sessions. It is a brilliant opportunity to connect and network with the world’s most prestigious and well-established judges, solicitors and policy makers. We expect to create a remarkable conference for over 200 attendees.

  • Elliot Atherton and Hannah Smith

The Mooting department offers its members internal competitions to support Law and non-law students in developing their legal research and advocacy skills. This year we are offering three main internal competitions.

For first-year students of any degree we offer the First Year Mooting Competition mostly focused on tort and criminal law.

For returning students, including any ERASMUS and other exchange students, we offer the Hogan Lovells Commercial Mooting Competition, aimed at members interested in commercial law, especially contract and property.

We will host our most prestigious competition of the year in term 2, the HSFK Internal Mooting Competition. This competition will feature problems from various areas of law with finals regularly being held in the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.

The Masters of the Moots and the Subcommittee, recruited from experienced returning students, also offer dedicated support to mooters before and throughout the competition through a mentoring scheme.

The Masters of the Moots also coordinate Warwick’s participation at external mooting competitions.

  • Aisha Aliyu and Kevin Leong

The negotiations department runs a series of negotiation competitions and workshops, these are designed to develop important lawyer skills such as commercial awareness, critical thinking and problem solving. We run 4 main competitions throughout the year: A First yesr competition, a General competition, a Commercial law competition and a new ESG themed competition. All events and competitions are open to all students regardless of year or degree (excluding the first year competition which is limited to first years only).

Our subcommittee is crucial to the running of the competitions as judges therefore we only recruit returners.

  • Deon Nunoo

We are incredibly proud that the Warwick Law Society has received its first nomination in seven years for ‘Best Society for Non-Law Students’ at the 2025 LawCareers.Net Student Society Awards. Having worked hard to increase engagement with non-law students and consequently breaking a society record, we have become incredibly committed to promoting our society and the events that we offer to non-law students. A large proportion of our members study non-law degrees, and we aim to support them in their path towards the legal profession.

  • Ameer Sarfarazhusain and Aden Khawaja

We are the Law Society’s publications arm and the largest on campus. We help law students publish their opinions and stay current with legal, political and commercial developments. You can contribute to our weekly commercial awareness newsletter, our fortnightly e-magazine, and our regular podcasts featuring reputable speakers across all areas of law. You can also enjoy the content as a reader or listener. We publish an annual print edition showcasing our best articles, and we host informal community events like coffee catch-ups.

This year, we are proud to run a writing competition sponsored by A&O in Term 2. We will be recruiting a subcommittee this year also!

We look forward to engaging with you at OD!

  • Masheta Saffi

Our Pro Bono Department is among the best in the country, having recently been nominated for ‘Best Society for Pro Bono’ at the 2025 LawCareers.Net Student Society Awards. United by a shared vision to create meaningful impact, our student-led projects strive to make a difference both locally and globally. With an expanding portfolio of initiatives and strong encouragement to collaborate with external charities beyond our six core projects, we aim to inspire a lasting commitment to service and engagement beyond university life.

  • Ayomi Perera-Driver and Max Alvis

The Socials Department is dedicated to creating memorable experiences that bring our members together outside the academic setting. From lively mixer events and exclusive exec dinners to unforgettable nights out in Leamington, our socials are all about fostering friendships, celebrating achievements, and strengthening our community.

We aim to make every member feel part of the Warwick Law Society family, whether you’re new to campus or a returning student. With a packed calendar of exciting events throughout the year, the Socials Department ensures there’s always something to look forward to.

  • Danya Kadir

In recent years, Warwick Law Society has hosted a variety of prestigious speakers, including Lady Arden, Jerry Buting and Tom Hickman KC. Such events have provided great benefit to our members, particularly in inspiring an array of career paths and enlightening them about issues at the forefront of the legal world. We are placing increased emphasis on highlighting practice areas, market trends, and legal developments. This year’s panels will offer our members valuable insight into the technical nature of work within law firms. We hope your firm will consider sending representatives to maximise the impact of these events.

  • Markos Grigoriou

As major contenders in the University’s Intramural Leagues, our teams are consistently among the most competitive and well-recognised on campus. These leagues involve hundreds of players and dozens of teams, offering strong visibility across the student body. In addition to local fixtures, our teams also compete nationally, most notably in our annual Intervarsity matches against the University of Nottingham. Sponsoring our kits and merchandise provides a valuable opportunity to reach beyond Law Society members and engage with students who might not have considered a legal career or are unfamiliar with the profession.

This year, we are also looking to engage with the growing and increasingly popular field of sports law.

  • Leila Khalilova

Our international and domestic tours offer cultural enrichment and a perfect chance for our members to enjoy themselves after busy terms! With flexibility in destinations, and previous tours ranging from Brighton to Amsterdam, we are excited to offer a visit to one of your firm’s international offices as part of the package, highlighting and reinforcing your firm’s global presence.
